Service Club
Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.”
The faculty and staff at St. Raphael promote service as an essential component of our curriculum. Every child shares in an educational environment filled with love and concern, a community joining together to help create a better world. Each student is encouraged to live their faith by giving back to the world and making a positive impact on society.
Throughout the school year, a number of all-school service projects are woven into the school day. In addition, our Student Council sponsors monthly projects centered around the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy. Students in grades 6-8 also have the opportunity to plan, organize and implement their own service project for additional credit.
Over one fourth of students at St. Raphael are members. In one meeting, the Service Club made thank-you cards for people who had donated to the auction to show their appreciation. At the December meeting, members walked around the neighborhood caroling in order to spread holiday spirit! The Service Club plans to do projects like these every month. For January, they will soon be collecting old crayola markers so that they can be recycled instead of thrown away.
The school club’s ambitions include working together to show Christian love and attitudes through our actions, and to spread service and joy throughout our community.
