Activities/Clubs
Our students are blessed with many gifts and talents, as well as various and diversified interests. We are proud to offer the following activities to them throughout the school year.
Extracurricular Activities
Dance Class
Saint Raphael the Archangel offers students an opportunity to take dance classes on site after school. Registration for classes begins in August of each year. Classes include: tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and pom.
Karate Class
Karate Class is offered each year from Robinson’s Karate beginning in September. Karate classes are offered on site after school.
Chess Club
A chess program for all ages and levels. During eight classes of the program, the students will receive instruction in all aspects of the game: openings, middlegame, and endgame; tactics, and strategy. During the course of the program, the students will be able to test their newly acquired skills against each other. Finally, at the conclusion of the program, the students will participate in the tournament (where they will compete against players of similar level), with the award ceremony taking place during the last class.
Band - Palmer Music
In the school band business for over 40 years, the Palmer family offers small group lessons in all band instruments, plus guitar and piano. Palmer Music runs successful band programs for our school neighbors at St. Joan of Arc and St. Dominic Savio. Lessons will be held during the school day at SRA on Tuesday mornings, and will be available for all interested students in Grades 3-8. Palmer Music will be discounting their lesson rates for all students this year, and they will offer a family discount for multiple children taking lessons. Look for information to come home the first week of school!
Safety Patrol
Students in grade 7 are eligible to participate as members of the Saint Raphael Safety Patrol. Students help to get their fellow students safely across the streets both in the morning, 7:30-7:50 am, as well as after school, 3:10-3:20 pm. This is for the Highfiled/Bishops intersection only. Students also contribute to the Safety Patrol by helping Preschool students from their cars to the Preschool entrance on Jamieson every morning.
The Jamieson intersection is patrolled by our Maintenance staff.
Servers
Students in grades 4-8 may choose to be servers at Liturgies. As servers, the students grow in their understanding and appreciation of the Liturgy and our Faith.
Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors are specially selected 6-8 grade students who represent our school on tours for prospective students and families, at exhibition events for Catholic Schools, and at our annual Catholic Schools Week Open House. Student Ambassadors are also called on to help at parish and school events such as ushering for school concerts, and waiting tables at the annual Dinner Auction.
